There is another side to Sydney that many visitors never discover.

Just 45 minutes from the city, the Northern Beaches offer dramatic sandstone escarpments, pristine waterways, ancient bushland, secluded beaches and stories that have been shared on Country for tens of thousands of years. Our day begins in the spectacular Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, one of Australia's oldest national parks and an area rich in both biodiversity and Aboriginal heritage.

Towering eucalypt forests, peaceful waterways and sweeping lookouts provide the perfect introduction to Sydney's natural beauty. As we explore the park, guests learn about the native plants and wildlife that call this landscape home, while discovering why these protected areas are so important for future generations.

The park is also home to significant Aboriginal heritage sites, reminding us that these landscapes have been cared for by First Nations peoples for thousands of years. Travelling respectfully through these places allows us to appreciate not only their beauty but also their cultural significance.

Walking on Country

One of the most memorable experiences of the day is joining our First Nations partners from Bush to Bowl for an authentic Aboriginal Bush Tucker experience.

Walking together on Country, guests discover native edible plants, traditional medicines and the cultural knowledge that has been passed down through countless generations. Rather than simply hearing stories about Aboriginal culture, visitors experience it where it belongs, surrounded by the landscapes that continue to sustain and inspire First Nations communities today.

It is an opportunity to slow down, ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of Australia's oldest living culture through genuine cultural exchange.

A picnic surrounded by nature

After a morning exploring the bush and coastline, we enjoy a relaxed gourmet picnic lunch surrounded by the natural beauty of the Northern Beaches.

Fresh local produce, beautiful scenery and the sounds of nature create the perfect opportunity to pause and simply enjoy being outdoors. Rather than rushing between attractions, we believe meaningful travel allows time to appreciate where you are, connect with fellow travellers and immerse yourself in the environment.

Where possible, we source locally produced food and operate with reusable picnic equipment, helping reduce waste while supporting businesses within our local community.

Coastal scenery that captures the spirit of Sydney

The Northern Beaches are famous for their golden sands and spectacular coastline, but there is much more to discover beyond the popular surf beaches.

Throughout the day we visit scenic headlands, quiet coastal lookouts and hidden corners that showcase the incredible diversity of this region. Along the way there are opportunities to spot native birds, seasonal wildflowers and, during the migration season, humpback whales making their incredible journey along Australia's east coast.

These quieter locations allow visitors to experience the natural beauty of Sydney away from the crowds while developing a greater appreciation for the fragile ecosystems that make this coastline so special.

Every winter, one of nature's greatest spectacles unfolds just off Sydney's coastline. Thousands of humpback whales migrate along Australia's east coast, many passing remarkably close to the Northern Beaches.

We're excited to introduce our newest experience, the Humpback Whales Land & Ocean Discovery Tour.

As an EcoPass licensed guide, we also explore the wider stories of the coastline, its wildlife, history and natural beauty.

After a relaxing lunch at one of our favourite local Northern Beaches restaurants, it's time to experience the migration from a completely different perspective. Joining the expert team from Ocean Extreme, you'll head offshore for a thrilling yet responsible 90 minute whale watching adventure. Their experienced crew combines exciting on water encounters with a strong commitment to marine conservation, education and respectful wildlife viewing.

A Proud Milestone for Australia By Nature

This year marks an exciting milestone for Australia By Nature as we prepare to enter our very first tourism award.

We're proud to be submitting an entry into the Take 3 for the Sea Award for Litter Prevention, presented as part of the NSW Tourism Awards. While we're still a young business, sustainability has been at the heart of everything we do since day one, and this award is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our commitment to protecting Australia's incredible natural environment.

Our entry highlights the practical steps we've taken to reduce waste, including replacing single use plastic water bottles with reusable alternatives, serving drinks in reusable ceramic cups, using refillable picnic and cleaning equipment, and weaving litter awareness and conservation into the stories we share with our guests. Every tour is an opportunity to inspire visitors to care for the places they explore and to leave nature better than they found it.

Whether we receive the award or not, we're incredibly proud to be recognised alongside businesses that share a passion for protecting our oceans, coastlines and wildlife.
